Hampton Court, with the Royal Palace was built in 1515 by Cardinal Wolesey. It was then presented to King Henry VIII in 1529. Later, Sir Christopher Wren rebuilt large parts of the palace for King William III and Queen Mary II. The Palace itself houses a large collection of original arms, armour, tapestries and fine paintings. Perhaps for our Gardeners Club it is also as famous for its gardens, maze and the Great Vine, planted in 1769…the largest in the world!
